Organ Concert with Hector Olivera
On Sunday, October 21st some 400 people were in attendance for the Hector Olivera Organ Concert. Those present were amazed, dazzled, and at times, astonished by the sounds of our newly completed Rodgers Digital/Pipe Organ. Hector definitely used every corner of the available sounds… from soft, serene to the full grandeur of sounds. Our senses of sound, feeling, and sight were engaged. There was a closed circuit monitor linked and the concert goers were able to watch as Hector, with great ease, sensitivity and technical skill moved over all four keyboards. Hector is a true artist at the keyboard and most definitely an engaging and entertaining commentator too. He concluded this amazing program coupling a computer sequenced and organ combination in his improvisation on “Ode to Joy”. With the release of the final chord the crowd, spontaneously rose to their feet, with exuberate applause and cheers. After one encore and two standing ovations, Hector bid everyone farewell. A wonderful reception followed in the Social Hall, hosted by Joan Vesovich and crew.
